After two decades of effort from more than 30 research institutions, the time is ripe to transform the fundamental science of artificial photosynthesis into commercial reality.  Driven by the promise of social impact, solar fuel research today commands more than 500,000 square feet of dedicated laboratory space employing 1000 researchers around the world.  The Solar Fuels Institute (SOFI), an academic-led consortium, intends to leverage these assets by partnering with industry to accelerate solar fuel research and development.
